PlytimeLearning has been awarded an Innovate UK Smart Grant for cutting-edge education AI innovation
We're delighted to announce that Plytime Learning has won a much coveted Smart Grant, co-funded by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK to further develop our online learning platform’s AI-Tutoring capability.
Building on recent research by MMU, that proved Plytime Learning’s Focus Tutoring® concept to be 25% more effective than traditional methods, the funding will enable the team to develop an AI-Tutor to sit between the student and their 1-to-1 tutor.
Working with North-West based AI-experts, Inevitable, the project will develop an in-house solution that provides intelligent and interactive responses to students based on question answers and knowledge gaps.
Work on the project will start in early February and following the funding we are currently recruiting an additional developer to join our team. We aim to commence early trials with Partner Schools and individual students before the start of the next academic year.
Lisa McCartney, Plytime Learning co-founder says:
“Plytime Learning is a recent start-up with a mission to provide the most effective and affordable learning support. Our approach is very different and that’s why the research was so successful, but this innovation will take it to a whole new level.”
Ian McCartney, co-founder, adds:
“I know that AI is something of a buzzword right now, and everyone is claiming to use it in some way, shape or form, but this is different. I genuinely believe it can fundamentally change the way children learn and funding support from Innovate UK is a massive help in allowing students to benefit from it more quickly.”
Plytime Learning is a research-backed online learning platform. It provides students with 24/7 access to their new Focus Tutoring® concept which combines personalised digital content with engaging gamification and video enabled 1-to-1 tutoring in highly focused 15-minute chunks designed to optimise attention spans.
It is a fully integrated platform that connects all key stakeholders together (parents, tutors and schools) to ensure students get the support they need when they need it.
